Open Call: "Stone & Stories"

International Photography Contest and Exhibition

Allora Gallery invites photographers from around the world to submit work for our international photography competition, "Stone & Stories." This competition welcomes both architectural and street photography, exploring the built environment and the life within it.

Cities are built from stone, steel, and glass β€” but they come alive through the stories written within them. Every building holds history in its facade, every street corner witnesses countless human moments, every architectural detail speaks of the hands that shaped it and the lives it has sheltered. This competition celebrates the relationship between the structures we build and the stories we live, where architecture becomes the stage and streets become the narrative of human experience.

We seek photographs that explore the built environment in all its dimensions β€” the grand and the intimate, the monumental and the everyday. How do you capture the character carved into weathered stonework? What stories unfold in the shadows between buildings? Can your lens reveal both the permanence of architecture and the fleeting moments of life it frames? We're looking for images that show how human creation and human experience intertwine in the urban landscape.

We welcome architectural photography showcasing buildings, facades, and structural details, street photography capturing life within the built environment, the interplay between people and architecture, urban landscapes revealing city character, the textures and patterns of construction materials, historic and contemporary architecture, the geometry and lines of urban design, night photography illuminating city structures, and any photograph that explores the relationship between stone and the stories it holds.

What draws you to photograph the built world? How do your images reveal the dialogue between permanent structures and transient moments, between what we construct and how we inhabit it? We're looking for photographs that demonstrate how architecture and street life are inseparable β€” each giving meaning to the other.
