Allora Gallery invites photographers from around the world to submit work for our upcoming online group exhibition, "In Motion."
Life is movement — the blur of a dancer mid-leap, the frozen splash of water hitting stone, the rush of wind through wheat fields, the graceful arc of a bird in flight. Motion reveals energy, emotion, and the pulse of existence itself. Whether captured in perfect sharpness or expressed through intentional blur, movement in photography shows us the world as it truly is: constantly flowing, shifting, transforming. This exhibition celebrates the dynamic beauty of motion in all its forms, where photographers capture the energy that defines life — from the explosive power of athletic achievement to the gentle sway of leaves in a breeze.
We seek photographs that explore movement in all its expressions — the technical mastery of freezing split-second action, the artistic vision of motion blur painting light across the frame, the story told through gesture and flow. How do you capture a dancer's suspended moment of perfect balance? What emotions emerge from the blur of a crowded street? Can a single frame convey the speed of a racing cyclist or the meditative rhythm of waves? We're looking for images that show how motion reveals character, creates emotion, and transforms the ordinary into the extraordinary.
We welcome sports and action photography capturing athletic prowess, dance and performance photography revealing grace and expression, wildlife in motion showing animals running, flying, or hunting, street photography with moving figures and urban energy, abstract motion studies using panning or long exposure, water in motion from crashing waves to flowing rivers, transportation and vehicles conveying speed and journey, and any photograph where movement becomes the subject, the story, or the artistic technique.
What draws you to photograph motion? How do your images capture the energy, emotion, and vitality of movement — whether frozen in crystal clarity or painted in flowing blur? We're looking for photographs that remind us that stillness is just one way to see the world, and that motion reveals truths that only appear when things are in flux.
