Open Call: "Horizons"

A Curated Photography Exhibition

Allora Gallery invites photographers from around the world to submit work for our upcoming online group exhibition, "Horizons."

The horizon is where earth meets sky, where the known touches the unknown, where possibility stretches endlessly before us. It's the line we chase at sunrise and watch dissolve at sunset, the boundary that shifts with every step we take, the promise of what lies beyond. Horizons exist everywhere—across vast oceans and mountain ranges, along city skylines and desert plains, in the subtle meeting of light and shadow. This exhibition celebrates the horizon as both literal boundary and metaphor for exploration, possibility, and the human desire to see what lies ahead.

We seek photographs that explore horizons in all their forms—the dramatic lines that define landscapes, the meeting points between elements, the sense of endless possibility. How do you capture the moment when sea touches sky? What stories emerge from urban skylines cutting through clouds? Can a single image convey the feeling of standing at the edge of something vast and unknown? What draws your eye to that distant line—is it the promise of adventure, the meditation of vastness, or simply the beauty of where two worlds meet?

We welcome landscape photography capturing nature's grand horizons, seascapes and coastal views where water meets sky, urban skylines showcasing city boundaries, desert and prairie vistas stretching to infinity, mountain ranges defining distant edges, the subtle horizons found in abstract compositions, dawn and dusk moments when horizons glow with color, minimalist studies of line and space, and any photograph where the concept of boundary, edge, or limitless possibility comes alive.

What horizons call to you as a photographer? How do your images capture both the physical line and the feeling it evokes—that sense of wonder, possibility, or peaceful vastness? We're looking for photographs that show how horizons become portals to imagination, markers of our place in the world, and reminders that there's always something more to discover beyond the edge of what we can see.
